Homophobia
Although 'homophobia' has only become a fashionable term recently, instances of it have been discussed by many of the contributors to this project, stretching back within living memory. From police harassment and intimidation to personal interactions with family, work colleagues and friends and even 'gay bashings' and murders.
Police activity against gay men 'Cottaging' was very common from the 1950s onwards, with the police actively hunting for gay men in parks and public toilets and using 'Agent Provocateurs', usually pretty young police men to entrap cruising gay men.
