Birmingham LGBT Community Trust

Birmingham LGBT Community Trust (BLGBT) works with and for the lesbian, gay and bisexual community in Birmingham. Formerly known as Birmingham Pride Community Trust) the Trust has a dozen Trustees and a full time development officer. BLGBT set up and supports a Forum of 35+ local LGBT groups and LGBT focussed organisations, which meets quarterly. The Trust organises events and runs projects, such as the Gay Birmingham Remembered project.

To see a well funded and supported LGBT third sector that in turn is able to empower all LGBT people to flourish and challenge inequality.
Our Mission
Birmingham LGBT Community Trust is building a vibrant, diverse and integrated lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community sector in Birmingham. We will give a strategic voice to the communities we serve and our unique needs.
Strategic Aims
Birmingham LGBT Community Trust has identified 4 key strategic aims for future activities. These aims help to determine the focus and desired outcomes/impact of all project activities, and the emphasis of any future core activities.
  1. To act as the voice of the LGBT third sector in Birmingham, based on a knowledge and evidence of real need, creating a positive and visible LGBT community
  2. Create a highly skilled LGBT third sector that has high aspirations for success which has adequate Infrastructure and is able to access relevant support from mainstream agencies
  3. To build an engaged LGBT community empowering individuals and groups to participate fully in society
  4. To lead by example by being a successful organisation that is efficient, effective, transparent, open and evidence based.
