Sybil owned a tiny little Black Country pub in Moxley, near Bilston:
“All
the girls, especially the girls from the Black Country, would go to so
they didn’t have to travel into Birmingham. It was all wait in the back
yard till the police had gone, and the pub would reopen till 4 a.m.
Sybil was there in her suit. She had a big picture of Shirley Bassey
and used to tell us she was Shirley Bassey’s partner, which we didn’t
really believe.”
