Changing status of lesbian mothers
2008
“Now it’s more of a choice,
about having kids or not having kids. It’s turned around a lot, at one
time, being a lesbian mother meant you were in the minority in the
movement and now it seems quite normal for lesbians to have kids. It’s
almost that not having kids means you’re on the outside of it, yet most
of the lesbians I know don’t have children, but some of the ones that
do don’t half make a song and dance about it! I used to be a child
worker at Women's Aid and be involved with various youth work and
childcare so I had a lot to do with children and young people but not
biologically which always seemed fine”.
