Pressure to be heterosexual was reported by many contributors, particularly the older ones, who tried to conform by going out with, or getting married to, opposite sex partners. This pressure may have been imposed by themselves, their peers or more widely through the expectations of society.
Such efforts were mostly either short-lived or unsuccessful.
