Too old for the Gay Centre Youth Group

1986

"I remember my first visit to the [Lesbian and Gay Community Centre, Aston], about 20 years ago, around the autumn of 1986. I was 31, nearly 32. I had only just started coming out. I’d parked up my Kawasaki GT750 and walked past the door several times before I finally got the courage to ring the bell. I was so nervous and they were very kind to me. I remember there was someone who told me about the and when I told him I was too old, he said that it want up to 26. He appeared very surprised when I told him how old I was. I did look very young for my age in those days." Pete, 53
