Wombourne March

On Monday 23rd February 1987 300 people marched through the small village of Wombourne, near Wolverhampton, in protest against council leader William Frank Brownhill, who had recently called for lesbians and gay men to be gassed to halt the spread of AIDS, and the local police. The Wombourne 12, a group of protesters who had been arrested in December 1986 and detained in prison, had been released without charge.
