Pink Picnic
July 2007
Pink Picnic 2007 was organised by the Birmingham Pride Community Trust. The event was billed as an antidote to the commercialism of the current Birmingham Pride and called on members of the gay community to simply turn up to Cannon Hill Park and occupy the large grassed area opposite the boating lake. About 100 people turned up, played games and socialised.
It harked back to Pink Picnics held before the days of Pride, in the early 1990s, (organised by Birmingham Stop the Clause) and there was enthusiasm for it to be reintroduced to the Birmingham calendar as an annual event.
