City Centre
February 1990 to February 2008
There has always been a large residential population in central Birmingham
with several large post war housing estates, such as Lee Bank and
Ladywood proving popular choices for gay people over the years due to their convenient location for accessing the gay scene and city life,
particularly popular are the Fairy Towers on Holloway Circus.
Since the early 90s Birmingham, along with most British cities, has seen massive regeneration and an explosion of City Centre apartment building. With the city centre now an attractive, buzzing environment it is now one of the more popular areas for younger gay men and women to live giving traditional suburban locations such as King's Heath and Moseley stiff competition.
Areas such as the regenerated Jewellery Quarter and the new Southside developments in the Gay Village are proving especially popular.
