Birmingham Pride 2006
May 2006 to May 2006
2006 saw a change in Birmingham Pride's previous format. A wrist band
system was introduced with a charge of £10 to access the Village area,
which was cordoned off with entry points, and to Cannon Hill Park,
which hosted the main stage, a range of beer and dance tents, the
Community Groups' marquee, the trade stalls, and the 'Village Green'
events including the traditional tug-of-war and dog show.
Unfortunately
due to very heavy rains before and at times, during the Saturday
afternoon, the park resembled more of a bog and a lot of people got
rather wet and muddy.
The charges did not prove popular, and were not carried forward to 2007.
