AIDS memorial quilt

The is an enormous quilt made as a memorial to and celebration of the lives of people who have died of -related causes.

The quilt is made of panels that are 6ft x 3ft, and are made by family and friends of those who have died, there are more than 44,000 individual panels world wide.

The Quilt is maintained and displayed by The NAMES Project Foundation and was started in 1987 in San Francisco by Cleve Jones and a group of volunteers.
